'Mysteries at the Museum' to feature haunted Houdini bust
The Travel Channel's new series Mysteries at the Museum will examine the case of the haunted Houdini bust tonight at 8 p.m. The bust in question is the one currently housed in the Houdini exhibit at the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Thanks for the heads up! Caught it tonight. Question though, about some of the footage they showed. That clip of Houdini touching his temple a few times, and removing his hat, with the man on his left -- is there more to it? (I hope you know which I mean.)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do know what you're talking about (that man is Jim Collins, btw). I'm not certain whether that footage is on the Houdini Movie Star Kino set, but I do know it's on the restored The Man From Beyond DVD (and Blue-Ray) released by Bruce Cardozo. I did a review of that, and included a pic of that very footage, here:

I didn't see this show so I'm not sure how much they showed. It's not a very long clip. Houdini seems to be saying, "Look how smart I am" and Collins is trying to hustle him away. On the DVD, it follows a suspended straightjacket escape.
Oh, right! I had that site bookmarked! Doh. Thanks so very much! I don't remember seeing that clip in the KINO set, so I'd love to get the restored dvd..
ReplyDelete'Nother question. I've seen a short clip of Bess and Houdini, and she seems to be wiping his face before he pauses toward the camera, and kisses her. They turn away and someone steps forward to (jokingly) separate them, I suppose. Is, uh, there anymore to that, or am I pressing my luck?
Thanks again, John. (:
Well, you're in luck! The story I just posted on The Truth About Houdini DVD has that very footage in the 2:00 min clip I attached to the story. But that's as much as I've seen. There could be more to it. Would love to see the uncut reels that these came from some day.
