Just a heads up that Dorothy Young's obituary appears in the
Los Angeles Times today (March 27, 2011). Dorothy, who worked as an assistant in Houdini's full evening roadshow,
died last Sunday at age 103.

Thanks to my dad, Ron Cox, for the tip and pic.
Here's the link to the LA Times obit: http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-dorothy-young-20110327,0,2115711.story
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jerry. I picked up a copy of the Times. Nice to have a hard copy for the scrapbook. :)
ReplyDeleteNY Times had an obit on the same day. Used the same photo. Just FYI.
ReplyDeleteIs that a wand Harry is waving in this picture? It's hard to think of another still in which he is holding the traditional magician's tailsmen like he, aparently, is here. Or is it just a cane?
ReplyDeleteThere's a pic in Silverman of Houdini doing Hello Summer. He's holding a long cane. I'm assuming it's the same cane as in this pic. Kind of cool to know. Houdini used a cane like a wand in his full evening roadshow. Another nail in the coffin of all those magic wands out there that claim to have been used by Houdini. Of course Houdini would use something bigger. ;)
