Tom Interval of
HoudiniMuseum.com is back with another terrific exclusive. Tom has posted a 40+ minute video of the inside of the infamous Houdini Magical Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Canada. The video was shot on August 23, 1994, only eight months before the museum was destroyed by fire. You can watch the video
HERE.
Tom has also launched a new Facebook page devoted entirely to the museum with terrific old photos and rare paraphernalia from its 27 year history. Give that a look and a "Like"
HERE.
Thanks for the video and new facebook page. It made me think back to my visit as a teenager.
ReplyDeleteI visited back in the late 90's. I went back the next day right when they opened since I wanted to have a hands on experience with the USD. So there I was, the place was empty and the security cameras were off. With my hands trembling and sweat pouring off my forehead I climbed under the baracade and stepped up onto the lable that the USD stood. First I was struck with how very small it was..probably just large enough to fit Houdini and no more. Secondly I tried to lift the lid and could barely budge it. However while doing this I noticed that the "gaff" used to release Houdini was not locked. So there I was working the USD as Houdini did to effect his release! Such an experience for someone who idolized this man since early youth.
ReplyDeleteGreat story. Thanks for sharing. I can't believe I didn't step over that rail and have a closer look myself. Seems like everyone did this.
