Houdini is directed by Uli Edel from a script by Nicholas Meyer. The 4-hour miniseries will air over the course of two nights on HISTORY sometime this year.

Schaech comes closest to duplicating the famous pose, from the dotted loincloth right down to the padlock dangling from his neck.
ReplyDeleteYes, his is almost exact. They did a great job.
DeleteIt's possible we'll see a Brody in a closer version. They might have done multiple configurations of chains, just as Houdini himself did.
A Speedo? Are they really going to have Houdini in a Speedo in the Brody version? I thought they wanted historical accuracy!
ReplyDeleteHey, at least they got the fabric pattern right.
DeleteI tried to get Dorothy Dietrich to use this exact pose for some publicity shots but she turned it down. :)

The Original Houdini Museum in NYC at The Magic Towne House
That would have gotten some attention. :)
DeleteSchaech also has the physique closest to Houdini's. They sure used a plethora of chains for Adrien Brody's pose - for emphasis, perhaps? In any case, Brody's got MY attention. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey really did double down on the chains for AB. Funny how that actually makes it look like it would be easier to escape.
DeleteSchaech 100 % 💙💛
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this review. I got halfway through Episode 1, and i thought, "Wait a minute. Is this how it really happened?" I assume the production is also inaccurate about relationships and how people act and communicate.
