Limited Edition Mirror Handcuff Key

Mick Hanzlik, Master Locksmith and Mirror Handcuff expert (and occasional contributor to this blog) is offering a beautiful replica of the key used in Houdini's famous "London Daily Illustrated Mirror Handcuff Challenge" of 1904. The replica is offered as a limited edition of 100 and comes in a black leather look presentation case and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

"I have studied this challenge for many years, and decided to make a replica key from the very few photographs that exist today. The replica is cast in White Bronze from the hand made key that I produced, and as far as I know is a true representation. A few of the people who have been lucky enough to handle the original key have told me that it looks exactly the same!"
- Mick Hanzlik

    2. And I don't think it could have been very effectively "hidden" in a glass of water.

  3. So I'm hearing Mick offered a set of 100 keys for sale in 2009. Not sure if these are different or from that same batch. I'll get clarification.

  5. So these are the same replicas from 2009. Mick made them in sets of 25 and these are the last 50. But these come in a new presentation case. And once these are gone, that is it.

  7. It would be nice to own a replica of the cuffs as well. Then you can practice/try? opening it while it's snapped on to your wrists. If it fits your wrist size.

  8. The 2009 webpage is now out of date. The keys are not silver plated as in the webpage, as I found the white bronze ones I am now offering look better. The price difference reflects that. Also I am including details on how I made the key as a 4 page document instead of a booklet. An improved display case is also included

    1. I was wondering if the keys are still available for purchase?

    2. Sadly, Mick passed away in 2015. You will have to find his keys secondhand. They are very desirable.
