Here is a magnificent woodcut illustration of Houdini by Canadian artist and graphic designer
Michael Custode. I think this beautifully captures the drama of a Houdini jail escape, and is a much closer depiction of Houdini's real physique than you normally see in illustrations. In other words, he nails it!

This image was created with ink and brush on Linetek paper. It appeared in a promo piece for the artist called
The Little Book of Strange Canadian Facts.

ReplyDeleteThere a lot of Houdini art online, but this one really hit me. Love it.
DeleteIt captures the essence of HH very nicely. The arm is a bit beefy but this is a stylized work.
