A new look for WILD ABOUT HARRY
So I've launched a new design for WILD ABOUT HARRY. This marks the first real change in the look and feel of the site since it went live in November 2010. This is primarily so I can create new drop down menus and can better organize some the content buried deep within the blog. Let me know in the comments below if this is a look you can live with for another six years. Thanks!

Looks a little cleaner.
ReplyDeleteLooks good!
ReplyDeleteNever mind what we think. The real question is: Would Harry approve?
ReplyDeleteI think he would. :)
DeleteI agree, it looks good!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the new drop menus and organization. Works for me.
ReplyDeleteYep, the drop downs are really what this is all about. Blogger doesn't offer drop downs, so I've spent 3 days trying to learn how to make them myself. But the code I have seems to only work properly on the Simple templet. So to have drop downs, I need to switch.
DeleteHi John, it looks good and I love the drop down menus, What are the chances of adding an option to login using a Facebook account? Cheers
ReplyDeleteSorry, Allan, I'm afraid I don't have any control over how all that works. That's all Blogger/Google.
DeleteLooks neat and clean. I miss the alphabetical "Blog index", which for me comes in handy every once in a while. Will it still be there or can you have a link to it?

Looks great nice and clean, like the heading.
ReplyDeleteI like it, like the organization and clean look and am too curious about the alphabetical blog index, which I would like to stay and would miss if gone. Thanks for asking for our input!
ReplyDeleteThanks all. The alphabetical Blog index will still be there. Everything on the right sidebar will pretty much remain. My test blog link is just a mock up to show the design, it's not complete.
ReplyDeleteMight begin the switch over today.
Nice. Like it. Loads up a lot quicker on my tablet. So thumb's up. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThat might just because the test site was so threadbare. How's the load time now that I've switched over?
DeleteStill very good...:-)
DeleteGreat. That's an added bonus then. :)
DeleteNice job on the drop downs. Looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI can send you the YouTube tutorial and code if you want to try it on your own site, Dean.
DeletePlease do. I started to tweak my site a bit but stopped short of a total redo. Drop downs would be nice.
DeleteLooks about the same -
ReplyDeleteYep, not a radical change.
DeleteStill experimenting with the background color and/or image.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the old color scheme. The parchment and cream is more unique and appealing, and it doesn't clash with the image like the brown and white does.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to that, don't change the image! That shot of Harry's eyes has become such an integral part of WAH for me and I'm sure for everyone else as well--Let Harry stay as he is!
-Meredith
Yeah, I liked the parchment as well, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it back. It was unique to the old templet. I'm also on the hunt for some kind of photographic background, something very Houdini or old showbiz or circus like, but I haven't found anything that had grabbed me yet. It can't be too distracting. Open to suggestions.
DeleteI've switched the color back to a tan that more approximates the old site. Probably better.
DeleteDon't worry about Harry's eyes. Those stay not matter what!
Much better! I agree a Vaudeville-type background would be wonderful, but for now it looks great. Whatever you ultimately end up with, stick with the same color scheme.
ReplyDeleteI did a search myself and found lots of striped and curtained backgrounds--I'm sure something will turn up soon.
-Meredith
Thanks. I will probably keep it like this for now. A photo background can be a little much. But I really appreciate the feedback, Meredith. :)
DeleteWell, I love my new drop-down menus, but I have question how people would like them to work. When you drop down under "Escapes" and select "Water Torture Cell", for example, do you want to see ALL posts related to the USD, or just be taken to one major post that gives the best history of that feat?
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I have a mix of both. Some go to a specific post (when I know I have a good) and some call up all posts. Trying to decide how people want it to work.
