Here's Houdini counting down to 2017 and another year of WILD ABOUT HARRY. I'm going to kick off the year with a look back at what Houdini himself was up to 100 years ago. So have a safe and Happy New Year and I'll see you all on January 1st.
This terrific unpublished photograph comes from the collection of Mario Carrandi, Jr., and is a companion to the photo of Houdini's hands. Mario shared this on his Facebook group THE MAGIQUARIAN.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture, what concentration.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great picture, Mario sold it to me a few years ago. He's a great guy and has a ton of magic material still left, but I bought alot of it.......
ReplyDeleteOh, so this is your photo now? I assumed it was still in Mario's collection. If you like, I can change the credit.
DeleteJohn No not a problem doesn't bother me at all. ON another note if you have the time, Houdini business card that I have seen was always a little smaller than standard, but have you seen the same style (the one where he is president of SAM) thats normal size??
ReplyDeleteI think this one may be fake>>> Thanks
I've not see that SAM version of his card. Sorry. I only have a reproduction of the small card.
DeleteI think that's it, smaller than a regular card, Hes the Illustrious President. Or are talking about the one with his profile, or the pyramid shape??
ReplyDeleteOr he could have made more in the regular size maybe some of your other experts can chime in.
I'm talking about the profile one (letterhead/bookplate image). That's the one I have a repro of.
DeleteThe pyramid was never a card, right? It's featured on a website of famous business cards, but I believe it's a souvenir from The Man From Beyond at the Time Sq. Theater, if this is the one we're talking about.
This should make it it easy one was sold by Potter and Potter August 27th last year, lot 443. Its dimensions are listed as 2x3.
ReplyDeleteYour right the pyramid was not a card.
Ah, okay, I see the SAM one in the catalog. I'd never seen one of these before. My repro of his regular card (profile) is also 2x3.
DeleteOK Sorry for all the fuss, I appreciate your site at least its a live Houdini person on the other end, it will be investigated. I guess its his most popular card but not his most valuable$
ReplyDeleteNo fuss at all. Interesting. In fact, you've inspired me to maybe do a post on HH's business cards and stationary. Let me know what comes of the SAM card.
