While the final price was certainly respectable, I did expect it to go for more. Last year some early German adverts each broke $1000. Not as much love for Russia these days, I guess.

John I agree it should have sold for a lot more. Maybe the fact that the picture barely looks like Houdini and his name is written in Russia. But if I was still in the collector mode I would have bid 2K.
ReplyDeleteThe touch up work on his face is not too good but we all know this picture so it's obviously genuine. Somebody got very lucky here. Congratulations to the buyer!
