Over the past few weeks our friend Joe Notaro at
Harry Houdini Circumstantial Evidence has been paging through his 1998 Houdini Historical Center Museum Shop Catalog. The assortment of poster reproductions, videos, and special merchandise was really impressive. Like Joe, I would frequently fax a full order form to Appleton. Wish I still could!
Joe is reviewing the catalog page by page and sharing images of the items in his collection. Links below. I'll update as he posts more.
I jumped in too late. A few years after 1998 I tried to place an order at the museum for a few HH items. All they had left were HH mugs and t-shirts. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI just had a look at the 1994 catalog. There's some real nice stuff in that one as well.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely had some nice items in their catalogs put out in the 90's. I have catalogs going back to 1993.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe and John, for sharing these - great to see them again! I lived for these catalogs! Still have many of these items from HHC - almost all the posters, postcards, the bust, and even the Houdini mug where the bonds disappear when you fill it with hot liquid! But what I wanted most -- the famous Houdini portrait poster ("Houdini for President") in the original size or close to it -- wasn't available, so I'd have to wait more than a decade to get it. The things we do...!
