Just an excited heads up that Potter & Potter has announced an upcoming auction of Houdiniana & Magic Memorabilia on May 21, 2022. As you can read below, the auction promises "Houdiniana that has never before come to market." Oh baby.
That's a given. But not being able to buy it doesn't have anything to do with being excited about what new Houdiniana we might see. And auction listings can still provide me with dates and important information.
Fair enough, my friend. The Houdini items are going to be out of reach for most of us. The Potter catalogs do indeed have have their own value as photo documents of historical magic. Who knows? A good photo might be had for only a $1,000.
The teenage Harry and Dash Metamorphosis photo in this auction is expected to take in $15,000 to $25,000. Unbelievable. The cigar holder Harry gifted to his brother Bill is a head shaker.
The Houdiniana auction is up and running. It appears that the descendants of Houdini's brother Bill have elected to jettison their Houdini family heirlooms for retirement money. There's also Manny Weltman items. That photo of a young Mama doesn't look like her to me. But it could be her. I'm used to seeing photos of her in old age.
Really? You know you can't afford what's coming out of that gate.
