Appleton's History Museum announces traveling Houdini exhibition
Appleton's History Museum at the Castle has partnered with Split Rock Studios to present Houdini Unlocked, an interactive traveling exhibition for mid 2023. They've launched an official website where you can preview the exhibition, download the brochure, and enquire about booking. No set dates yet, but I will stay on top of it.
This should not be confused with the upcoming exhibition in Houdini Unchained: The Legacy of Harry Houdini, which opens in Anaheim on October 8, 2022 and will showcase the collection of Dr. Randall Bell.
Funny I was wondering if it was the upcoming Bell exhibition, then I hit your This should not be confused with...That classic HH photo is reversed. That bugs me like the strait-jacket fails
The website says "25+ original Houdini artifacts, pre-mounted in cases." Not sure what these will be, but I wouldn't expect apparatus. Most of that left with Sid Radner. But I know they still have Houdini's first scrapbook, which is a real treasure. It would be amazing if that was part of the exhibition. But I'm not sure they ever display that. It's likely too brittle. Looks like this will mostly be interactive/educational displays.

ReplyDeleteYeah, that bugs me too.
DeleteDo we know what Appleton has in terms of Houdini items? Posted, letters, apparatus?
