William Lindsay Gresham's Houdini notes
Magician Jeffrey Alan has shared to Facebook an exciting discovery he made recently at the American Museum of Magic in Marshall, Michigan. These are author William Lindsay Gresham's original research note cards for his 1959 biography Houdini The Man Who Walked Through Walls. I like that he sorted things by year. That's the way to do it! I'd love to read through these some day.
I used the same system to write the Channing Pollock book, except that I filed everything in a computer. My collection of material was a mess until I did so.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad that I took the time to do it that way because when it was time to actually do the writing, the filing system made it so much easier to put all of the into words.
It's nice to see that others like Gresham did the same thing.
Very telling, that in the not below the index cards, a successful, career professional writer Robert Lund, says Gresham was the best writer he knew. That's saying somethin'
